    Bulls vs. Warriors (04/06/16)

By John Ewing Director of Research and Analytics @johnewing
Would Jordan, Scottie and the 1995-96 Bulls sweep the Warriors?

Golden State has been chasing 73 wins all year to break Chicago's NBA record for most victories in a single season. As the Warriors threaten to surpass the 1995-96 Bulls it is natural to want to compare the two teams. So which squad is better?

Scottie Pippen says the 1995-96 Bulls would sweep the Warriors.

The Hall of Famer said in a hypothetical series between the two teams he would defend Stephen Curry, while Michael Jordan would guard Klay Thompson. Pippen believes that his length would bother the league's MVP and Curry would score fewer than 20 points per game.

Is Pippen correct or is he just another hater?

We simulated a seven game series with the 1995-96 Bulls vs. the 2016 Warriors on a neutral court to find out.

Jordan, Scottie and the 1995-96 Bulls would sweep the Warriors but just 8.6 percent of the time.

The Bulls are the better team. Chicago would be 63.8 percent likely to win the seven game series. If Jordan and Pippen were to win, the most likely outcome would be a long series (not a sweep) with a 39.4 percent chance that it takes at least six games for Chicago to win.

In the simulations, Curry scores 20+ points in 84.1 percent of the games.

Going to the scorecard, Pippen was right that Chicago was the better team. However, Jordan's sidekick wouldn't shut down Curry and a sweep isn't likely to happen either.

    Bulls Chance
    Win Overall 63.8%
    Sweep 8.6%
    Win in 5 15.9%
    Win in 6 20.8%
    Win in 7 18.5%

03/13/2017 Highlight: Using our ResultsFinder tool, it's evident that the Predictalator is entering March Madness in incredible form. The Predictalator posted 59 "normal" or better plays in March (plays with greater than 57% confidence) and went a stellar 36-23 (61.0%) on those plays. An average $50 bettor would have profited $678 using our recommended wager sizes. After posting an outstanding 8-1 (88.9%) ATS record on "normal" or better sides in last year's NCAA Tournament, the Predictalator looks poised to produce more NCAA Tournament winners.
