    Eli 70% Completion (07/29/14)

How likely is Eli Manning to complete 70 percent of his passes this fall?

The New York Giants new quarterback coach Danny Langsdorf has challenged Eli Manning to complete 70 percent of his passes in 2014.

Manning has completed 58.5 percent of his passes in his career and his best single season completion percentage was 62.9 percent in 2010.

Last season Manning completed 57.5 percent of his passes while leading the league with 27 interceptions.

How likely is Manning to complete 70 percent of his passes?

We project Manning's 2014 season to be an improvement from the disaster in 2013. Manning is projected to complete 61.1 percent (330 completions, 540 attempts) of his passes this season for 25 touchdowns and 19 interceptions.

However, in 50,000 simulations, Peyton's little brother never completes 70 percent of his passes over a full season. Not even once!

Even if you count his interceptions, which we project will lead the league for the second year in a row, as completions his percentage only rises to 64.6 percent.

In order for Manning to complete 70 percent of his passes, the Giants quarterback would need to connect on 48 more passes. Using Manning's career average that would be more than two additional games worth of completions.
