NFL DFS Value Plays - Week 12 (11/25/16)

    By Mark Dankenbring
DFS Football Value Plays – Week 12

With Week 12 of the NFL season upon us, let's take a look at who sets up to have the most value based on their salary in daily fantasy for DraftKings and FanDuel. With injuries opening up expanded roles for certain players, and favorable matchups determined after 11 weeks of action, we have a solid list of value plays this week. Value plays are centered around players who are below the average salary cost for their position and will produce the most points per dollar spent. Below are a list of some highlighted players on both platforms, but to see a full ranking of players and their value this week, visit our Optimizer tool for full control over your lineup.

Each player is listed with their salary and projected points for the week.

    DraftKings

    Quarterbacks

Tannehill enters Week 12 as our number one value play at the quarterback position. Tannehill will face the 49ers at home on Sunday and will square off against the defense that has allowed the 7th most DraftKings points to opposing quarterbacks this season. Since Week 2, the 49ers have given up at least two passing touchdowns to opposing quarterbacks in all but one game. Tannehill hasn't necessarily been racking up the yardage through the air recently, but has thrown two touchdown passes in each of the last two games, and has added 35 yards on the ground in the two game span as well. Look for Tannehill to have a solid week against one of the worst defenses in football.

Wentz and the Eagles will face off against the Green Bay Packers this Monday night at home in Philadelphia. Wentz will face a struggling defense that has allowed just over 38 points per game during their four-game losing streak. In this four game stretch, the Packers have allowed opposing quarterbacks to throw for an average of 310 yards per game and a total of 11 touchdowns. The matchup sets up well for Wentz to have a bounce back week as he's only thrown two total touchdowns in his last three games, so make sure he makes it into your lineup against an abysmal Packers' secondary.

    Running Backs

With the season ending injury to running-mate Giovani Bernard, Jeremy Hill will now be the clear number one back in Cincinnati. Unfortunately for Hill, he'll square off against a Ravens defense that has been one of the best in stopping opposing running backs all season long. Therefore, this play seems to be due solely to workload and not necessarily matchup based like the ones we saw under the quarterback position. Hill has averaged 12.4 DraftKings points per game when he has received at least 15 touches this season, and also had a 30+ point performance against the Browns receiving only 11 touches. Hill will be featured in a Bengals offense without Bernard and AJ Green, so look for him to see a lot of looks against the Ravens this Sunday, and to hopefully have a productive day fantasy wise.

Howard will see his second lowest salary on DraftKings this Sunday since he became Chicago's starter in Week 4. He's been a consistent back all season, only falling below 10 DraftKings points one time. With Jay Cutler out and Matt Barkley running the show, Howard will likely see a lot of action against the Titans this Sunday. Howard has performed well at Soldier Field as a starter, averaging nearly 100 yards per game and scoring touchdowns in two of the three games he's started there this season. The Titans have been solid overall against the run this year, but have allowed a touchdown to an opposing running back in three of the five road games they've played this season. Look for Howard to take advantage of the heavy workload this Sunday and to have a solid fantasy week against the Titans.

    Wide Receivers

With Alshon Jeffery and Zach Miller both unavailable for the game against the Titans this Sunday, the Bears receiving corps will feature Wilson for only the second time this season. Even though Matt Barkley has struggled to begin his career, they'll face a Titans defense that has allowed the 6th most DraftKings points per game to opposing wide receivers this season, and have allowed at least one receiving touchdown to opposing wide receivers in their last six games. Without much on-field action to help us determine Wilson's health and ability this season, it's tough to describe what his involvement will be in the Bears' offense, but with a minimum salary for a DraftKings wide receiver and a matchup against one of the worst secondaries in football, Wilson could be a nice filler for your lineup this weekend.

Parker has put together back-to-back impressive fantasy weeks the last two games, and enters Week 12 against a 49ers defense that has allowed an average of two touchdowns per game to opposing wide receivers since Week 4. Parker has seen 18 targets over the past two weeks, catching 13 of them for 182 yards and a touchdown, which is by far the best receiving numbers for any Dolphins player over that span. The 49ers have allowed the third most DraftKings points per game to opposing wide receivers this season, so look for Parker and the Dolphins to have success through the air on Sunday, and for Parker to provide great value in your lineup.

Matthews has been a focal point of the Eagles offense the last four weeks, receiving at least 10 targets in all four games. That streak will likely continue against a porous Green Bay secondary that has allowed the second most DraftKings points to opposing wide receivers in the last three weeks. It's also likely that Matthews will find the end zone on Monday, as the Packers have allowed nine touchdowns to opposing wide receivers in their last four games. With a relatively cheap salary of $5,000 for an offense's number one wide receiver, look for Matthews to have a big week against a Packers defense that hasn't been able to stop anyone recently.

    Tight Ends

In his second week back from injury, Cook finds himself atop our value play leaderboard for the tight end position. At the DraftKings minimum salary of $2,500, Cook lines up to provide solid value against the Eagles on Monday. In his first game back last week, Cook hauled in six of his 11 targets for 105 yards and a touchdown. With the Packers' defense struggling so much in the past few weeks, Aaron Rodgers has had to air it out, and with Cook overtaking Richard Rodgers as the number one tight end, he'll likely see several more targets this weekend. Look for Cook to be a factor on Monday night against the Eagles.

McDonald has seen six targets from Colin Kaepernick in each of the last four games and has seen an uptick in performance since the 49ers bye in Week 8, as he's averaged nearly 60 yards per game and has scored two touchdowns in the three games since. McDonald has been a big play receiver in the last four games, catching a pass of at least 24 yards in every one. The 49ers will likely keep McDonald in their game plan this weekend against a Dolphins defense that has given up 128 yards and two touchdowns to opposing tight ends over the last two weeks. Look for him to have solid value in Miami this weekend.

    FanDuel

    Quarterbacks

In his second career NFL start, the number one overall pick will head to New Orleans to play a Saints defense that has been solid over the last five games, only allowing an average of about 23 points per game. The Rams will hopefully open up the offense a little bit for Goff this weekend, as Goff's 17 completed passes last week only led to 134 yards. With the FanDuel minimum salary for a quarterback, Goff can hopefully provide some value to lineups with high salary players at other positions. Facing a defense that has allowed a passing touchdown in every game but two this year, look for Goff to have a solid performance in the second start of his career.

    Tight Ends

Fiedorowicz has become one of Brock Osweiler's favorite targets this season. In five of the last six games, Fiedorowicz has seen at least seven targets from Osweiler, including a season-high 10 last week against the Raiders. The Texans will face the Chargers in Houston this weekend, where Fiedorowicz has caught a touchdown pass in all three games he's started there this season. Therefore, look for Fiedorowicz to have another solid week of fantasy production at home against the Chargers.
