For the first time since Prediction Machine’s Pick ’em contest started, no contestant had a perfect 5-0 week. Week 5 did however, produce four 4-1 finishers and saw a large group go 3-2 vs. the point spread
PM Subscribers steal the show
Despite a field of 50+ contestants featuring betting experts, NFL beat writers and former NFL and MLB players, it was a quartet of PM subscribers who performed best in Week 5.
After a slow start, PM subscriber MIGHTY397 scored his second consecutive 4-1 week along with PENETRATORS, SHIEKHERS, and SMOKESTER4444. The impressive week by SMOKESTER4444 has him tied for first place with Chicago Bears content creator DEESKVIEW at 18-7.
PENETRATORS showed a willingness to go against the grain as he picked up a win on the Jaguars when only 5 of 22 contestants picked them vs. the Bills. PENETRATORS also scored a big win with the Falcons when just 8 of 22 contestants trusted them this week vs. the Texans.
Special Guests go 3-2
Special guests highlighted the large group of 18 who finished 3-2 this week. Former MLB pitcher Andrew Carignan and former NFL WR Ryan Hoag both finished 1 game over .500 along with Kansas City Chiefs reporter Darren Smith, Miami Dolphins writer Alain Poupart, Washington Commanders writer George Carmi and Arizona Cardinals writer Jess Root.
Standings getting interesting
After DEEKSVIEW and SMOKESTER4444 in the standings are 5 contestants lurking one game back at 17-8. That group includes Darren Smith, BULLDOGGERS85, PENETRATORS, RMENDIVIL, and SHIEKHERS. RMENDIVIL was the overall leader in the contest, but turned in a disappointing 1-4 effort this week.
A cluster of six 16-9 opponents tied for eighth place includes two PM Subscribers (Tive-N-Wide and JETS$$$$$$$) and four special guests: George Carmi, Kevin Hanson, Kris Abbott, Mitch Bannon.
Contestants are competing for a trophy, bragging rights and social media glory.
